Billing
-
Mid-cycle upgrades are charged immediately to the card
Switching to a more expensive package during a billing cycle incurs a prorated charge immediately, whereas switching to a cheaper plan delays the financial impact until the end of the month.
What the source says
normally upgrades take effect immediately and are billed prorated, but downgrades take effect at the end of the billing cycle. https://www.reddit.com/r/slingtv/comments/1qj7orq/sling_price_increas…

The cancellation retention offer regularly fails to apply a discount
The cancellation flow often intercepts users with a $16-off deal for three months, but users find the accept button is broken, or the system simply bills them the full higher rate anyway.
What the source says
I went to cancel back on January 25th, and they offered me a $16 credit 3 months, but at an increase of $5 a month for the package. I decided to accept it, I got the offer accepted page, and my account info updated to show the new monthly charge. Today my account was charged at the new higher monthly price but I didn't get the credit. https://www.reddit.com/r/slingtv/comments/1igdzpi/cancelation_16_cred…

You cannot manually choose stream quality in a browser to save data
Sling has removed the UI option to manually throttle or select video resolution in its browser and Roku applications, locking users onto an automatic quality tier that drains data caps.
What the source says
Who was the genius that thought it would be a great idea to not let us be able to choose the quality of a stream when watching on the browser? https://www.reddit.com/r/slingtv/comments/1t5xlgn/who_was_the_genius_…

We fetched each of these pages ourselves and checked the quotation is really on it. That proves somebody said it, not that it is true — read the source and decide.
