What people learn from using it
Reported by people who use Youtube Premium, not by Youtube Premium. Every note links to where we found it, and says how many sources we could confirm it in.
Away from home
-
flag A private Tailscale node bypasses the 30-day household IP check
Installing Tailscale on an always-on device at the primary residence allows remote family members to route their YouTube traffic through the home network, satisfying the IP check.
Youtube Premium's terms do not allow this. It is here because people report doing it, not as a recommendation.
What the source says
Install tailscale on your device(s) and tunnel through the exit node at home. Boom...done. https://www.reddit.com/r/degoogle/comments/1n7djaz/youtube_will_stop_…
Being checked
-
Family accounts must ping the home IP address every 30 days
Google tracks IP addresses to enforce the household rule. If a family member does not connect to the manager's home Wi-Fi at least once a month, their access is suspended.
What the source says
Each family user has to log in through a common IP address at least once every 30 days to confirm they're in the same household. https://www.reddit.com/r/youtubepremium/comments/1opd0vs/youtube_prem…
We fetched each of these pages ourselves and checked the quotation is really on it. That proves somebody said it, not that it is true — read the source and decide.
